Use your words!

I’m not a nationalist. I’m a member of the Scottish NATIONAL Party – the party of the nation of Scotland. Nobody claims any nefarious meaning behind the names National Library of Scotland or National Health Service. Why the SNP? I’m not going to accept being called a nationalist anymore. I’m ambivalent about ‘Nat’ but if they want a shorter term I’ll say “Call me a ‘Scot'”

I’m a member of the Scottish National Party and I seek independence and self determination for my country. Independence – not separatism. Like saying “political correctness” instead of “treating people with respect” we’re allowing the opposition to control the language, to dictate the message. We need to stop that. We need to argue more, point out the lies and the weasely words. We need to stop being so damn nice.

I’m a big fan of sarcasm.

And we need to talk about brexit – a really lot! Because brexit is going to be a great, steaming disaster and it scares the hell out of me. When they whine “we don’t want a second referendum” I say “Too late! We had one in 2016 and now everything has gone to shit. What are you going to do about that?”.

I don’t know where this came from. I think I must have seen one arsehole comment too many. But, the thing is, language is SO important and they are too good at using it against us.
